Film Poster Analysis [Improved]

Ender's Game

Language: The language of this poster depicts a dystopian, sci-fi type movie with action. The title, age rating, tag-line and reviews are shown clearly on the poster along with the main actors. The title is written in a bigger and more defining font to present the name of the film and hopefully make it memorable to the viewers of the poster so that it is the first thing that comes to their mind when they want to watch a movie. Cold, bright colours are used with a darker background to point out the main focus of the poster (e.g characters, settings.) The title has a bold golden lens flare through it, perhaps to show importance or hope.

Industry: The distribution company is Summit Entertainment. Summit Entertainment LLC is an American film production and distribution company. It is owned by Lionsgate and is headquartered in Santa Monica, California. Lionsgate are a worldwide known company and the maker of many different films including more recent movies such as Jigsaw, The Hit-man's Bodyguard and The Hunger Games Series. Since Ender's Game was published in 1985, Orson Scott Card (author) had been reluctant to license film rights and artistic control for the novel, fortunately the film was still released in 2013.

Audience: This film's target audience was mainly teens and young adults who enjoy the book or science fiction in general. Majority would probably be boys aged 12 - 17 Yet the audience could be widened to families as the 12 age rating only applies to the mild use of
some violence, sci-fi action and thematic material.

Representation: The cast in the center could represent teamwork or a group with something in common. The adolescents are positioned in front of the adults and this could show an idea of rebellion or overcoming their elder's. On the other hand, the adults are above the children which could show dominance or control over them.
