4) Why did the producers decide to feature a range of different ages, genders and ethnic groups in the advert?



To be diverse a include a wide range of responses to the asked question, also to thoroughly prove the point that no matter what your age, gender or ethnic group, doing something 'like a girl' is a good thing.

5) What effect does the background music have on the audience - particularly towards the end of the advert?

The background music starts of slower and towards the end as the producers are trying to highlights their message, the music swells and becomes louder to focus on the message being conveyed.

The slogan (rewrite the rules) and logo (always) are presented along with messages used to coax the consumers to share and spread the word. The phrase rewrite the rules, could be interpreted as to how women were portrayed as weak and stupid in history and by rewriting the rules, you can prove women are strong, independent or confident.

7) What representation of women can be found in this campaign?

Women are portrayed as strong, intellectual, , sporty beautiful, independent and able to achieve anything they set their mind on.



8) The #LikeAGirl campaign was hugely successful with over 65 million views on YouTube alone. Why do you think the campaign connected with audiences so successfully?



It addressed a diverse range of people and supported women in a positive way. It also addressed the double standard of doing something like a woman meant doing it unsuccessfully yet doing something like a man meant doing it successfully. It also had a very mainstream target audience. Women.

Extension task: find another memorable broadcast advertising campaign on YouTube. Embed one of the adverts into your blog post and analyse why the advert successfully connected with the audience.
